About Dr. Angie Gleeson

I love working with people and offer a grounded, compassionate and human approach to therapy. I am strongly committed to building a respectful, honest relationship with each person I work with. I appreciate that it can often take courage to come and speak with a therapist, and will work in collaboration with you to set goals and go at a pace that fits what you need. I will help you gain a better understanding of yourself and your reactions, strengthen skills to manage challenges you may face and build the life you want to lead.

Doctor of Psychology (Clinical)

Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Psychology (Hons)

Psychology Board of Australia accredited supervisor

Experience

Dr. Angie Gleeson is a registered Clinical Psychologist experienced in working with people from all walks of life, in a range of settings including government agencies, private hospitals, universities, not for profit organisations and emergency services.

Angie is trained in a number of therapeutic approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

  • Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Schema Therapy

  • Mindfulness-based therapies (ACT and MBCT)

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

Angie works with people 18 years and older. She offers a safe and supportive space to help you:

  • Explore and understand the origins of your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and triggers

  • Change thought patterns and behaviours associated with mood and anxiety disorders, e.g. Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder

  • Build healthy boundaries and strengthen communication, especially in difficult family/friend/work relationships

  • Navigate and make meaning of grief and loss

  • Get in touch with what you need from yourself and others (including how to ask for what you need)

  • Process trauma and stress safely, moving at your own speed

  • Effectively manage life transitions (for example, loss of a job, birth of a child)

  • Understand, validate and express your emotions in a healthy way

  • Reduce emotional reactivity and manage anger

  • Create a calm and settled space within yourself.
